Moderator,
this is my blog which I've been adding to throughout this coursework. The music magazine I've made is in the hip-hop/alternative genre.
Below you'll find my finished music magazine cover, contents page and double page spread as well as the evaluation questions, research and planning, college magazine and the tasks I had to do before creating this.
My blog will start with my finished college magazine, go on to the evaluation, then research and planning and finally my college magazine.

Research and Planning: Model Headshots

I could use this one because it's a professionally lit picture. This model would also be appropriate for my magazine he fits the 'look' of the people involved in my magazine genre.
This model won't be suitable because he doesn't fit the look of my genre.
I could use this model in my magazine because he suits the look of my genre.
This model wouldn't fit the look of my genre therefore I will not be using him in my magazine.
This model also wouldn't fit the genre look.
I could use this model as it would be good to get a good mix of male and female models to ensure my magazine appeals to both sexes.

Research and Planning: Artist Research and Imagery

The Twang
This type of shot suits my genre well. The casual and laid-back look of this band makes this picture looks natural. However, the main image on the front of my magazine won't be of a group of people and instead the audience's attention will be focused onto one person.
Mac Miller
This suits my genre perfectly, there is one person in the image, he looks natural and the use of branding creates a upper class feel. Mac Miller is also wearing very up-to-date and 'trendy' clothes.
Ed Sheeran
This type of close-up picture would also look good on my front cover. This image is very different and the reader would be intrigued to read more about this artist.
Professor Green
This image would also be good, however, the background is white, I don't really want this on the front of my magazine as it looks too un-natural. A natural and raw background would give a much more natural and spontaneous feel.
Rizzle Kicks

The Killers

The Kooks

The Streets

    Research and Planning: Prop List

I don't need any props for my magazine as I want the images to look natural and spontaneous.

    Research and Planning: Costume List

The clothes that I want my models to wear:
    • Jacket/Hoodie - If I use strong brands with some of my clothing this will create the look I'm going for. It will create a strong image of style and status.
    • Shorts/Jeans/Chinos - Using shorts will create an image of a perfect world where the weather is warm, even if it's not.
    • Sunglasses - The sunglasses will also add this idea of style and give the idea the weather is once again good.
    • Shoes - The shoes will also be heavily branded as this will create an idea of style and luxury.
    • Shirt/T-Shirt - The shirt will be coloured the same as my colour scheme, this will link the image with the magazine.
